Nuestras Alas inaugura primer contenedor permanente de 'Tenis con Alas' en Estados Unidos

Nuestras Alas, programa de Responsabilidad Social del Club América, con el apoyo de Fundación Televisa, inauguró el primer contenedor permanente de Tenis con Alas en Houston, Texas, en las instalaciones de su primer aliado, Soccer Post, de la mano de Green Education Foundation (GEF).

Tenis con Alas es una iniciativa medioambiental del Club América en México y Estados Unidos. El proyecto impulsa la economía circular mediante la recolección responsable de textiles de todo tipo, con el propósito de extender al máximo la vida útil de las prendas y, cuando ya no puedan reutilizarse, asegurarles un tratamiento adecuado que evite que terminen en vertederos.

La inauguración del primer contenedor permanente en Estados Unidos marca el inicio de la expansión internacional del programa, que tiene como objetivo la instalación de más de 30 contenedores en distintas ciudades del país. Próximamente se sumarán nuevas ubicaciones en Fair Oaks (California), Eatontown (Nueva Jersey) y Mechanicsburg (Pennsylvania).

Al respecto, Héctor González Iñárritu, Presidente Operativo del Club América, celebró que en el marco del 109 aniversario del Club tuviera lugar el arranque en Estados Unidos del programa internacional Tenis con Alas, recordando que la grandeza de las Águilas trasciende las canchas gracias a las acciones permanentes que el Club realiza junto a Fundación Televisa en materia de sostenibilidad y responsabilidad social.

Por su parte, Alicia Lebrija, Presidenta Ejecutiva de Fundación Televisa, señaló:

“Estamos realmente emocionados: es un proyecto que venimos trabajando desde hace más de dos años. Ya contamos con contenedores en el Estadio Banorte y este es el primero permanente del Club América en Estados Unidos; esperamos que sea el primero de muchos, junto con Soccer Post.”

Añadió:

“Todo lo que llega a los contenedores tiene un destino responsable: se revende, se dona o se recicla. Incluso el contenedor está hecho con materiales reciclados y paneles solares, y monitorea cuánta ropa y tenis hay adentro para saber cuándo recogerlos.”

En tanto, Charlene Nijmeh, Founder & Chief Executive Officer de Green Education Foundation (GEF), comentó:

“Estamos construyendo sobre alianzas que se preocupan por la Madre Tierra y quieren trabajar hacia la sostenibilidad, enfrentando los retos ambientales que nuestro planeta vive. Todos vivimos juntos en este planeta—no hay fronteras—y el impacto que generamos en nuestro espacio afecta a quienes nos rodean.”

Y agregó:

“Esta es nuestra primera estación de donación aquí con Soccer Post, y queremos expandir en Estados Unidos. Proyectos como Tenis con Alas ayudan a generar conciencia sobre porqué es importante reciclar y ser sostenibles.”

Con la inauguración del primer contenedor permanente en Estados Unidos, Tenis con Alas reafirma su compromiso con la sostenibilidad, la responsabilidad social y el poder de la colaboración entre el sector deportivo y las organizaciones sociales.

Nuestras Alas inaugurates first permanent 'Tenis Con Alas' container in the United States 

Nuestras Alas, Club América’s Social Responsibility program, with the support of Fundación Televisa and in partnership with the Green Education Foundation (GEF), inaugurated the first permanent Tenis con Alas container in Houston, Texas, at the facilities of its first partner, Soccer Post.

Tenis con Alas is an environmental initiative by Club América in Mexico and the United States. The project promotes the circular economy through the responsible collection of all types of textiles, with the goal of extending the useful life of garments as much as possible and, when they can no longer be reused, ensuring proper treatment to prevent them from ending up in landfills.

The inauguration of the first permanent container in the United States marks the beginning of the program’s international expansion, which aims to install more than 30 containers across different cities in the country. New permanent locations will soon be added in Fair Oaks (California), Eatontown (New Jersey), and Mechanicsburg (Pennsylvania).

Héctor González Iñárritu, President of Operations for Club América, celebrated that, as part of the Club’s 109th anniversary, the launch of Tenis con Alas in the United States took place—emphasizing that the greatness of Las Águilas goes beyond the field, thanks to the continuous sustainability and social responsibility efforts carried out by the Club in partnership with Fundación Televisa.

Alicia Lebrija, Executive President of Fundación Televisa, stated:

“We are truly excited. This is a project we’ve been working on for more than two years. We already have containers at Estadio Banorte, and this is the first permanent one for Club América in the United States. We hope it will be the first of many, together with Soccer Post.”

She added:

“Everything that is donated to the containers has a responsible destination: it is resold, donated, or recycled. Even the container itself is made from recycled materials and powered by solar panels, and it monitors how many clothes and sneakers are inside to determine when it needs to be collected.”

Meanwhile, Charlene Nijmeh, Founder & Chief Executive Officer of Green Education Foundation (GEF), commented:

“We’re building partnerships that care about Mother Earth and want to work toward sustainability, addressing the environmental challenges our planet faces. We all live together on this planet—there are no borders—and the impact we make in our space affects everyone around us.”

She added:

“This is our first donation station here with Soccer Post, and we want to expand across the United States. Projects like Tenis con Alas help raise awareness about why it’s important to recycle and be sustainable.”

With the inauguration of the first permanent container in the United States, Tenis con Alas reaffirms its commitment to sustainability, social responsibility, and the power of collaboration between the sports sector and social organizations.
