ENGLISH: Marchesín and Uribe named to tournament’s Best XI

29 de mayo, 2018

Agustín Marchesín and Mateus Uribe were named to Liga Bancomer MX’s “Best XI” from Clausura 2018.

For Marchesín, it marks the second consecutive tournament in the league’s Best XI as the Argentinian keeper also found himself honored at the end of Apertura 2017. In 2016, he won the league’s Balon de Oro as the league’s best keeper through the year. Landing in the Best XI for both recent tournaments makes him a strong candidate to earn his second Balón de Oro as Best Goalkeeper this year.

Marchesín was the undisputed starter for all 21 matches through Clausura 2018, playing 1890 total minutes. He made 54 total stops, including 33 inside the penalty area. He posted a 71% save percentage throughout the tournament, and his 639 passes (74% effectiveness) were the most of any keeper.

Uribe lands in the Best XI after scoring eight goals for Las Águilas, the most on the squad. He appeared in 18 matches and played 1408 minutes through the tournament. His eight goals on 27 shots on goal placed the midfielder tenth in the scoring table, and he completed 611 passes (82% effectiveness), 22 dribbles, and won 95 one-on-ones against defenders.
